Construction has consistently lagged behind other industries in the use of technology. This is starting to change, as seen in the 2015 Construction Technology Survey conducted by JBKnowledge Inc. 62% of respondents to the survey reported that they were using between 3-6 mobile apps daily. The adoption of technology represents an opportunity to reign in some elusive project costs.
Expensive decisions made in the field with out dated information could be avoided if projects had better integration of information through technology.
Part of the problem stems from an over reliance on static spreadsheets. These findings highlight a need for construction software companies to provide more integration across systems, and also point to a need for contractors to use more software across projects.
There is the potential for an incredible profitability boost if contractors and subs would increase their reliance on integrated tech solutions. What is your team doing to become more efficient at sharing data?
